My name is Trina Carty and I am the owner of Dramatic Paws. I am a fully licensed home boarder with Chelmsford City Council, fully insured and Canine First Aid trained. I continue to invest in professional development, maintain appropriate insurance and keep my knowledge up to date to ensure I provide the highest standard of care for every dog entrusted to me. Dramatic Paws has been built on trust, safety, professionalism and genuine affection for every dog that comes through my door. I keep my numbers small so that every dog receives individual attention and becomes part of our daily family life. One of the greatest compliments I receive from owners is that their dogs get excited as soon as they turn into my road. Knowing that dogs are genuinely happy here is the reason I love what I do.
People are often surprised when I tell them that I wasn’t always a “dog person.” As a child, I was frightened of dogs after a bad experience which stayed with me for many years.
Everything changed once I became a parent. While taking my children to and from school, I gradually found myself meeting friendly dogs and chatting to their owners every day. Those small, positive interactions slowly rebuilt my confidence and helped me see dogs very differently. Before long, I realised that I genuinely enjoyed being around them.
The biggest turning point came when Ruby joined our family. She completely changed my perspective and opened my eyes to the companionship, loyalty and happiness that dogs bring into our lives. Caring for Ruby inspired me to learn as much as I could about canine behaviour, welfare and enrichment, and I soon discovered a real passion for working with dogs.
In 2020, I founded Dramatic Paws as a dog walking business. As my experience and knowledge grew, so did my business. I continued to invest in training, gained valuable practical experience working with dogs of different breeds, ages and personalities, and built trusted relationships with both my canine clients and their owners.
In 2023, I was granted my Home Boarding Licence by Chelmsford City Council, allowing Dramatic Paws to expand into licensed home boarding and offer dogs the same home-from-home care that has always been at the heart of my business.
Today, nothing gives me greater satisfaction than seeing nervous dogs grow in confidence, watching friendships develop between compatible dogs, and knowing that every dog in my care feels safe, relaxed and genuinely happy.
Many owners joke that “their dogs love coming to Dramatic Paws so much that they worry they’ll be disappointed to go home again”. To me, there is no greater compliment. It tells me that the dogs feel secure, loved and are truly living their best lives while they’re with me.
That is exactly what Dramatic Paws is all about—providing a safe, loving and professional home-from-home where every dog is treated like one of the family.
